So we’ve done a bit of an overhaul. We have changed the name “Massive” to Shadow of a Crimson Kingdom (SoCK, for short), something that we feel is more reflective of the game itself. We have also changed many of the priorities of the game, and I am pleased to announce that SoCK will be focused on multi-player combat, a bit reminiscent of Age of Chivalry.

I would also like to note that Lachrymose is the Lead Designer of this game, so if any of you feel the need to stop caring about it, I understand 😉

I’ve made a second pass at combat, and here’s a bit of info about it:

This combat system is made to give the user full control.  Here’s how it currently works (as of 20 minutes ago) – You hold down left-click, then you drag in the direction that you want to swing.  When you let go of the mouse button, you swing in the direction that you dragged the mouse.  It’s pretty simple, and currently only works with your right hand.  This is the first pass that I have made at this type of combat.

I also slowed down the animations a bit, they might be too slow… and I think I need to add some stamina next time.  Combat feels a bit spammy.

Anyway, I’ll get the new version uploaded and the video uploaded then I will update this post.

Good progress today 😀

My AI has been successfully implemented.  Well the first simple pass at it, anyways.  Took probably a net of 5 hours to implement AI and basic combat.  And somehow, its kinda fun just to run around and kill skeletons.

I think I’m going to try to get a video up, and I will upload the download link in a few minutes.

I just spent the last few hours getting the bare bones of the AI work done, with a bit of collision detection.  Getting this to work will probably be one of the hardest challenges.  However, it is almost complete.  Here’s what happens:

-You run over to the Skeleton.

-He runs up to you/follows you.

-He won’t attack, yet.

-You swing and hit him for 50-100 damage (I wanted to make sure it worked :p)

-He falls over, dead and is now a ragdoll!

Yay!  However, this version won’t be uploaded until I fix a few bugs :p
